It’s true that the dark skies here on Long Island, Bahamas reveal so many more sparkling stars to our bare eyes and at greater depths in the atmosphere than areas near cities where there’s more light! Though viewing those stars is a marvelous sight, this blurb is actually identifying a flowering plant, shooting star.

Much of Long Island’s surface is rock. Natives frequently use pot hole farming to grow tomatoes, pigeon peas, potatoes or other vegetables. They dig holes where there is less rock and plant.
